Michael Gray joked a couple of weeks ago that Chip’s Challenge was “coming to a floppy disk near you”—and he didn’t know just how right he was. Not about the floppy discs, because in 2013 that sounds more like a euphemism for [censored] than a legitimate means of file storage, but a new Chip’s Challenge game is on the way, from Chuck Sommerville, creator of the original.
It’s called Chuck’s Challenge 3D, and not only is it basically an updated version of everyone’s favorite Windows 3.1 puzzler, but it has modern amenities like a competitive multiplayer mode and a level editor. Check out some fresh gameplay footage here:
Chuck’s Challenge 3D has been on Steam Greenlight since this past summer, awaiting enough user votes to be fully released on the Steam platform. What are you waiting for? A 2D version was also released in 2011 and is available for free on iOS devices.
