Koei Tecmo launched a teaser site for a new game in the Musou series, known to us in the states as the Dynasty Warriors series. Well, we finally have a teaser trailer for the game—and it’s Berserk!

For the uninitiated, Berserk is a popular manga series by Kentaro Miura that started in 1989. It’s a dark fantasy tale following a swordsman named Guts with an emphasis on dark. Monstrous demons, bloody battles, and turns of events that might actually make you sick to your stomach are some hallmarks of the series. If you’ve played Dark Souls at all then here’s where that inspiration comes from.

The first gameplay trailer is here and I must say I’m excited. This is a complete 180 from their last licensed Warriors titleOne Piece: Pirate Warriors 3. I’m excited to see if their experience making the Attack On Titan game released in Japan is going to pay off here.

Berserk Musou will be released this year on PS4, PS3, and Vita in Japan. There is no word on a Western release.

  1. Berserk as a musou game is a questionable choice just because have you read/seen the first arc?

    1. Berserk does have some material that might be uncomfortable to go through. This is true. It’s not like we’re supposed to like Griffith for what he does. We’re supposed to despise him. It just really makes me hope Casca manages to give him his comeuppance at some point alongside Guts.

And the big core of Berserk is monster slaying, which I feel will fit right at home in the Musou series.

      1. I mean, I’ve seen the first arc three times in different incarnations of the animated series, and four if you count reading it, and it still doesn’t get less traumatic.

        1. I honestly doubt Koei will be able to actually show anything too graphic if they want to secure an M rating equivalent and a Western release.

          1. In a move that in no way surprises me, but does disappoint me, Koei is using that infamous scene to market Berserk Musou.

  2. That also upsets me that they’re using that outfit as DLC. I plan to show my disdain for the move by not purchasing that DLC and urging others to not purchase it as well. I want more Berserk games so I really want to support the game. But I really don’t want…..that. Just no.
