‘Twas the night before the 23rd
And all through the website
Not a creature was stirring
Not even a rabite

Merry December 23rd, one and all! We’ve finally made it to the last major holiday of the year—one celebrated by cultures throughout the world since times immemorial.

And it’s a big one! I’m pretty sure this is the largest holiday we have on record here on “This Day in GameCola History“, and for reasons that will be clearly apparent by the time you finish reading. So get started, and happy holiday to you!

December 23rd, 2015—Hacks’n’Slash #10: Mario & Sonic Christmas Special

Really, what’s more festive than this December 23rd-themed Hacks’n’Slash? Of course we’d pull out one of our most popular features for such a celebrated holiday! Given the length of the podcast, it may be best to save this for last, but we’re sure you’ll enjoy our dramatic reading of this Mario and Sonic Christmas crossover.

December 23rd, 2014—The Last Door Episode 1: The Letter (PC)

For the last holiday of the season, Anna brings you the first episode of The Last Door. If you’re looking for an adventure game, be sure to check it out!

December 23rd, 2013—Mystic Ark (SFC)

Want something even more outside the mainstream than an indie point-and-click adventure? Meteo brings you Mystic Ark, the spiritual successor of sorts to GameCola favorite The 7th Saga.

December 23rd, 2010—Gamera Obscura: Santa Claus no Takarabako

Still not Outside the Mainstream enough for you? Jeff Day kicks off our 2010 celebration with Santa Claus no Takarabako in this installment of “Gamera Obscura”!

December 23rd, 2010—Alex Kidd: Your Face to Guest Star in Hyperdimension Neptunia

Alright, maybe that was a little too Outside the Mainstream, so here’s a couple games you may know about…but did you know they were together? Paul gives you the surprisingly-not-fabricated news as he continues the 2010 celebration of the big day!

December 23rd, 2010—Zelda Wii Delayed, Zelda 3DS Speeds Up

And, we’re officially back Inside the Mainstream as Michael Gray wraps up our THREE December 23rd articles in 2010! We had to balance it out somehow, so here’s some news on the at-the-time development of the new Legend of Zelda game.

December 23rd, 2009—Super Mario Bros. 2: Level 6-1

Even on the first December 23rd, GameCola had a big celebration. In this nascent universe, before Gaming Outside the Mainstream had formed, we had a Let’s Play of Super Mario Bros. 2. Go enjoy Level 6-1 and don’t lose sight of the real reason for the season!
