… of the Month: The 11-Minute Mario 3 Completion Video

Now, in case any of you haven't heard the news about this pseudo-miraculous video, it is basically of a person playing through the game of Super Mario Bros 3. in 11 minutes. The conspiracy comes in with whether or not he did this legitimately, or whether he/she cheated in some way/shape/form. One theory is that the person who did it used an emulator, playing the game in a slowed down mode, and then sped it up in the movie to make it seem like his feat had been performed at regular speed. This stems from the fact that some people have seen "jumping" and flashing and whatnot during the video, hinting at such editing.

Super Mario Bros. 3 Super Crazy Video Conspiracy Theories of The Month:
The Infamous 11 Minute Completion Video: Is it real?

Now, in case any of you haven’t heard the news about this pseudo-miraculous video, it is basically of a person playing through the game of Super Mario Bros 3. in 11 minutes. This stems from the fact that some people have seen “jumping” and flashing and whatnot during the video, hinting at such editing.

marioAlthough most of the controversy involves whether or not the game was slowed down/sped up to achieve the effects, there are still less obvious elements of the video worth examining.  In more than one instance during some of the levels of World 8, it looks as though Mario was hit by one of the wrenches thrown by those wrench throwing mole things.  Although the wrench seems to go right through Mario, he does not shrink or lose his fire power… hmmmmmmmm… iiiiiiiiinteresting…. And another thing that I can’t help but wonder, and must try out for myself, is whether or not three fireballs can actually kill one of those spikey minibosses in the mini castles.  When I last played Mario 3 I thought I remembered having to shoot them many times before they’d die from fire.  It could be argued that he jumped on them the last time, but in the first encounter he has with one of these enemies, it seems to me that he doesn’t jump at the last second, and instead shoots to kill it.

One last bit of confusion stems from whether or not it is indeed possible to jump on Bowser’s head and shoot fire at him to kill him.  I was under the impression that you were supposed to make him fall through the floor to kill him, so I have never personally tested this.

If anyone has any information that can help confirm or deny any of these conspiracy reports, please send it to GameCola A.S.A.P so that we can put this mystery to rest.
