Dear Readers: Change, Part Two

Change, as candy has noted, is good. Wait. Crap. I think I’ve used that line before, haven’t I? Just great.

Change, as candy has noted, is good.

Wait. Crap. I think I’ve used that line before, haven’t I? Just great. Now what am I going to write about? I knew this biweekly thing was bad news…

SO! Anyway! We’ve got a lot of new stuff for you guys this month. One you should’ve already noticed, if you’re an alert GameCola reader: The search bar on our navbar. It’s not a generic Google search bar; this baby was expertly programmed by GameCola’s Kevin Leacock. Check it out if you’re looking for a certain article, a specific review, or that one issue where we wrote about nothing but pirates.

And that’s not all! Thanks to a suggestion from GameCola reader “Frank,” we’ve added a new rating to our review scale: “Novelty.” That is, how original a game is, in comparison with other games in its genre and for the same system. For example, Katamari Damacy would get around a nine for novelty, whereas Halo, if the reviewer was in a good mood, might manage a two.

One more thing: We, as always, are on the prowl for cool sites to trade links with, so if you’ve got one or you know someone who’s got one, drop us a line. Our readership’s a little smaller right now than I’d like (we’re still on the cusp of that three-billion mark), and I’m looking to expand it as much as possible.

One more, final thing: The “Holy Crap Please Make us a New Logo” contest is still going on! Please! You have a lot more artistic talent than me! Please make us a new logo! I’m begging you! And I’m just DYING to make someone (for free!) a new t-shirt with the new logo they’ve created.

It’s all I’ve ever asked you for, except for that one paragraph I asked you to trade links with us. And maybe the several times I’ve asked for new writers, for people to go on our forums, and for people to send us some feedback every now and again. Really, except for that, I’ve never asked for a thing. So just grant me this one thing. Please?

One more, final, no this time I really mean it, thing: For those of you who don’t like reading GameCola in its unsightly newsletter form, you’ve got another option if you’ve got a LiveJournal account. And it’s right here. I’ll be updating this baby once a day with an article from the latest issue until either I’m out of articles or yet another new issue is out. It might be a good way to check us out without being completely overwhelmed with the sheer amount of awesome we bring you every two weeks.

OK, that’s it. Enjoy the new issue!

Love,
