… of the Month: People Porting Games Instead of Making New Ones

It seems someone got the hint, whether it be from tons of people using their PSPs to play old games on emulators and refusing to upgrade their PSPs in order to continue doing so, people continuing to buy old games ported to PSP and other systems (such as Breath of Fire 3 for PSP, which I just purchased recently instead of buying a real new game), or just a lucky guess.

People Porting Games Instead of Making New Ones Part 2 (aka the PSP PS1 emulator installment)

HA, that was an awesome sentence. So much information and running on with only a single period bringing the whole thing together. Beautiful. Anyway, apparently there’s gonna be an official PSX emulator for the PSP.

Some people may not think this is a good idea, and they are probably right, but this has some potential to be very good. If they somehow were cool about it and made it so that each game did not cost the same amount as an actual new game, since it’s an emulator and all, it would be a whole lot better than paying 70 dollars to get a PS1 game for PSP imported from Europe. This would mean I could get a lot more of the old games I want, which is good since I don’t see a time coming soon when they are going to start making really good games again.

Another requirement for this being not sucky is that they would have to make sure you could get any game. I don’t want to buy a damn emulator just to be allowed to play crappy pop games like old ass Madden Football or Tomb Raider or whatever the hell they played back in the day when people actually used PSXes.

If they keep the available library big and keep the prices for each game relatively low, this could be a very good alternative to buying expensive crappy games, or paying way too much to get the limited ports of decent old games that exist.

I’m guessing they won’t do what I want and it will end up sucky. I’m trying to watch The Forsaken on SciFi and I’m not paying good attention to what I am writing anymore. I think I’m finished making my point. I don’t remember what my point was. Oh well.
