Some of you GameCola readers can probably remember the Versus Mode about libraries. Both writers agreed that videogames should not be put in libraries.
Well, my local library apparently missed that article, because they have Wii/GCN and PS2/PS3 games available. Personally, I think it’s cool, because it gives me an opportunity to experience games I wouldn’t otherwise play. For example, I played and beat “Metroid Prime 3” and “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”, which are awesome games, but not games I’d shell out 50 bucks for without having played the game first.
There are some downsides to the system, though. You can’t check out a game for more than three weeks if somebody else has requested it. That’s not such a big problem depending on the game, ’cause some games can easily be beaten within three weeks, and some games (like Super Mario Sunshine) have so few requests so you can check them out again and again without much wait. But there are a FEW games with RIDICULOUSLY LONG waiting lists. Big Brain Academy holds the record with 250 holds, which means it’ll take about a year for me to get my copy. Lame.
But overall, I’m happy with the system because I can’t think of any way to improve it.
