You awake in a bathroom stall with a headache, a trenchcoat, a roll of toilet paper, and NO MEMORY WHATSOEVER! What do you do?

If you’re Michael Gray, you carefully search your surroundings and piece together the clues that will reveal your identity and the dire situation you’re in. If you’re Paul Franzen, you carefully search Michael Gray’s walkthrough and piece together what you’re supposed to do next. If you’re Nathaniel Hoover, you try to eat the toilet paper.

‘Cuz that’s how I roll.

Deja-Vu-Collage

The game I’m talking about is Deja Vu, a point-and-click detective game that is so popular that it was ported to more systems than there are people who have played it! Given the inevitable differences between versions, and given that the whole “Didn’t I just see you guys play this game? It must be deja vu!” gag is the funniest thing ever to be mentioned in this sentence, we figured it might be worthwhile to show you, our loyal YouTube channel fans, three different flavors of Deja Vu. Just like Neapolitan ice cream—three different flavors, and nobody likes the strawberry.

You can interpret that however you’d like.

Each video set takes approximately an hour to watch, and Michael would appreciate it if you watched these videos from start to finish instead of skipping around like you did with his unforgivably short run of Final Fantasy VI Advance. Jeez, you’re impatient. No, I jest; we realize that devoting three hours to any one thing can be an unfathomable commitment, which is why every night is Singles’ Night at GameCola. Or something like that. So if you’ve only got the time to watch one of these video sets, allow me to give you a quick rundown of what you’ll be missing by not watching Paul and Michael’s videos:.

Deja Vu (Game Boy Color) with Michael Gray

Do you play games to enjoy the plot? Would you like a real walkthrough that will help you to finish the game? Then Michael’s run of the GBC version is right for you.

.

Deja Vu (Nintendo Entertainment System) with Paul Franzen

Do you enjoy “Let’s Play” videos with a player who has no idea what’s going on half the time? Can you dig the groovy 8-bit soundtrack? Then Paul’s run of the NES version is the way to go.

Deja Vu (Windows) with Nathaniel Hoover

Can’t stand clunky console game interfaces? Ever wonder what would happen if you essentially burned down a newspaper stand and tried to eat an unconscious person? Then my run of the Windows version is the one to watch. Weirdo.

.

Deja Vu II (Game Boy Color) with Michael Gray

Looking for a change of pace? Fancy a trip to Las Vegas? Enjoy walking around a hotel with no pants on? Discover Deja Vu II, which is probably the reason why there’s no Deja Vu III.

Nathaniel Hoover is almost certainly GameCola's most verbose staff member, and arguably the most eclectic. As administrator of the GameCola YouTube channel (GCDotNet), occasional contributor to every article category on the site, and staff editor, you're pretty much stuck with him wherever you go. Sorry.
