The GameCola 4.0 redesign has only just been released, but with the new vaporwave design aesthetic on the up-and-coming with the youth these days, the lovely GameCola staff has brought me in to give the site yet another redesign. We’re hoping to change direction and achieve mainstream success writing about Gaming Outside the Mainstream. Now, I can’t say too much, but I was authorized to give you guys a special sneak peek.
Now, this raises some questions. Where is everything? The reviews, the columns, the comics!
Once a week, we’re just going to change the image displayed on the homepage—to increase collectible value. Our new direction counts on a grassroots fan base forming to trade the various images on our site, and seeing how it goes from there. It also makes the site easier to update as writers can just copy and paste their articles from Microsoft Word into Photoshop with no editing or attachments.
I hope our readers are pleasantly surprised by this new redesign—unfortunately, we’re expecting another seven months of hiatus. Why? Well, it’s simple. The design in theory is final, but to be authentic we’re uploading a high-res image from a 2003 laptop hooked up via dial-up in the boonies. This should also cut down on hosting costs, and if it doesn’t, we’ll just host it on Imgur and email everyone the link to the image.
Anyway, I hope everyone is satisfied with GameCola’s new direction.
