In an update to my recent post about DisneyQuest, it’s just been announced that Disney’s five-story arcade venue will still be open into 2017. We did it! GameCola saved DisneyQuest!
Sadly, from what can be gathered from the brief commentary in this article, their reasons for staying open actually have less to do with a sudden boom in attendance or a dedication to the American arcade scene, and more to do with a problem finding a party interested in the location. The plans for a five-story
Space Jam museum “NBA Experience” seem to have fallen through.
Is it possible to turn this thing around? Would there be something that could draw enough people to make DisneyQuest profitable again—if it ever was profitable? Or, will we see the machines continue to age until Disney finally finds a new tenant?
