I’ve had this weird kind of inverted bell curve of interest regarding Epic Monkey. It looked super-interesting when all we had was concept art like this, then I stopped caring when Warren Spector revealed, to everyone’s disappointment, that it was just going to be another cartooney platformer…then I got interested again when I started seeing videos like this, which was just released today:
It doesn’t really look epic, but it still looks kinda fun, right? Thoughts?
I’m sure it’ll be interesting and a lot more developed than some mass-produced churned-out Highschool Musical Game.
I think it looks more epic that Kirby’s Playtime Fun with String.
I-I don’t know what to think about this, really. On one hand, it’s being made by Warren Specter: The guy who revolutionized and created the First Person RPG and Stealth Action genres.
At the same time, it sounds like these guys are just a bit too in love with the source material. I mean, Disney is awesome, but it sounds like these guys are so in love that they’re not willing to try anything innovative, which is why the darker tone was written out of the game.
I guess we’ll wait and see.
this game is really neat you get to travel through this whole new world. It’s like if disney and steam punk clashed together and became a video game.
Oswald the lucky rabbit is in it, and so are a lot of other Disney characters. It’s actually kind of dark and depressing at one point, but the blot is the perfect villain.
I still haven’t actually checked it out, although the sequel sounds kind of awesome: http://gamecola.net/2012/03/epic-mickey-2-just-got-epic-er/
