999_DS_L_PackagingI’ve recently started playing through the DS visual novel 999 again, partly because we’ve been talking about it on the site so much lately, and partly because I’m hoping that, this time, I don’t get the ending where you’re chopped up with an axe. I couldn’t help but notice a weird scene I found this time that I didn’t come across before.

This scene happens right after the main character, Junpei, and his schoolmate/possible love interest June are debating heading into an unexplored elevator. June is apprehensive, because she thinks the elevator might lead into a room filled with water, with no way to escape,  and Junpei…thinks they’re talking about something else entirely.

It’s possibly the longest-running double-entendre ever in a videogame. Check it out!

Dialogue like this is one of the many reasons you should check out 999 yourself! …Is what I’d like to say, but there aren’t any other scenes like this anywhere in the game. Or in ANY OTHER GAMES, for that matter, with the possible exception of the sort Matt Gardner reviews.
