Hey everyone, it’s time for MAGFest again! For the uninitiated, MAGFest is the Music and Gaming Festival—and it’s a giant 4 day party starting Thursday, January 2nd. This year, the event is happening in lovely National Harbor, MD at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center. Now, you may be wondering, “Why should I go to MAGFest when there’s all the other video game events these days?” The answer is that there are no other gaming events like MAGFest out there. Seriously, I’m not BSing you here. MAGFest is run by fans, for fans. No sponsors, no giant banners trying to sell you crap (although there is crap you can buy), and no giant lines for demos of games that may or may not come out. Just you, thousands of other gamers, dozens of bands, and games EVERYWHERE. We just want everyone to have a good time.
So that’s the general gist, but maybe you want some specifics. Well, during the day you can enjoy any number of things from panels hosted by your favorite internet celebrities and voice actors (Duke Nukem and GLaDOS, anyone?) to shopping in the Marketplace to playing games in the Arcade, Tabletop, or Console gaming areas (FULL DISCLOSURE: the Consoles Area is my baby, and is the best). Check out our Indie Dev section for new and upcoming games from some really great studios, or come play in a one of the many tournaments suggested and run by attendees, such as tournaments for Yoshi’s Cookie, Skullgirls, or Sonic 2! Afterwards, come check out concerts by any number of video game bands and chiptune artists like Rare Candy, Machinae, DJ Cutman, and tons of others! Once you’re done there, why not check out one of the late night panels, dance parties, or come back to the Game Room? It’s all open continuously through the end of the event, so do whatever you want!
So that’s MAGFest in a nutshell. For more info check out www.magfest.org or just come down to National Harbor next weekend! We’ll be there waiting to party with you!
If I lived on the East Coast, I’d be SO THERE.
If you see chuggaaconroy or any other famous YouTubers wandering around, please tell them hello. And that I’m a huge fan.
Maybe If I end up going to college on the East Coast, I can go next year!!!
If I had my license and a car I would love to go.
Ugh, I so wish I could go. And I don’t even live that far away from Maryland.
