[EXPLICIT] Bible Black: La Noche de Walpurgis (PC)

Plot! I really, really enjoyed the plot of this game. It brings me back to the eerie feelings of uncertainty and excitement I felt when playing Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne for the first time. You hear whispers of cult activity, and at first brush them off as mere rumors. But, you soon discover that there’s a lot more to it than that.

You find yourself thrust(ing repeatedly) in the middle of an occult mystery from which there is no escape! OK, perhaps that is a bit melodramatic. But, try to leave this review. I dare you.

Now explain to me how you think you’d escape your occult destiny.

Each decision you make in this game really feels important. If you’ve been keeping up with my reviews, you know a big problem I have with AO sims is when they are full of arbitrary choices that feel irrelevant. Not so in Bible Black! In fact, here’s an example of a Bible Black choice:

Yes, you can make decisions about who you sleep with, and yes, it does affect the ending. You can choose to give in to tempting, dark powers, or you can choose to reject their influence and struggle to walk the path of righteousness and fewer sexual partners. No matter what you choose, your decisions have real consequences that you have to deal with, good or bad.

Not only does this keep you engaged while playing (I actually found myself quickly clicking through the sex scenes, just to find out what happened next), it also makes you eager to replay the game once you finish, to see how things could’ve gone differently had you made different choices.

Great plot, sexy women…what else is important in games like this…?

Ah yes, the extras! You’re able to access any BGM track (there are no hidden images or anything to unlock by looking here, so don’t worry about checking it out), view any CG (including scenes, backgrounds, and lone character images), and even check your endings! There are 12 endings, and you’re able to check which ones you’ve gotten, as well as which you’re missing. Their names may even offer subtle clues as to how to unlock them. Oh, and there’s one more option.

Erotic mode! Why play through the game with all its sexless scenes when you can exclusively view sex scenes? Erotic mode keeps all the text that’s shown when you actually play through the game. CG mode simply shows you the images, textless.

Unfortunately, this is just for unlocked sex scenes. Who wants to play through the game over and over, reading the same scenes just to get to the next plot branch? Bible Black knows the answer is nobody, so it includes the greatest fast-forward button ever conceived. This button skips text at warp speed, but only skips scenes you’ve already viewed. As soon as you reach unread text, bam!

It stops in its tracks.

If you have any interest in this genre, I have to recommend this game. It has all the sex, torture, peeing, and enemas (seriously, what’s up with the enemas? I’ll discuss this more in my upcoming Lighting Warrior Raidy II review) you can handle, with a genuinely interesting story thrown in for good measure. Sure, maybe the story gets bogged down in an absurd amount of gratuitous sex, but I imagine you don’t have a problem with that.
