So I’ve just recently discovered—after a whole year+ of using Adventure Game Studio to make testgame—that there’s this whole community of people making adventure games with this software, and they’re like…decent games! And I’m talking real old school adventure games too, the likes of King’s Quest and Monkey Island, and such.
So these people make full length (or short length, or medium, or whatever), original adventure games and put them online for people to play! I’ve even stumbled across games which have been made by actual companies, which just boggles my mind.
Also, I got talked into joining the community and making a post about testgame on the “games in production” message board, and let me tell you, the people over there are nice! I’ve gotten nothing but positive response, despite the fact that my game has been in production forever and probably will be for like 500 more years, besides the fact that I don’t actually know what I’m doing.
It really doesn’t get any better than this: free software to make adventure games, and free games to download and play to your hearts content!
