  1. Once again, the one time I’m NOT on a podcast, we’re talking about things I actually know anything about.

Beating Mega Man 2 on Normal mode is still beating it. Advancing the game to the point where you see the credits is usually a sufficient qualification. COMPLETING it, on the other hand, requires Difficult mode. It’s like finish Donkey Kong Country or Super Mario World without 100% of the secrets: you’ve still beaten the game, but not all the way. I’m very diligent about updating my Backloggery, so I have to ask myself questions like this all the time about the games I play.

With a little creativity and skill, you can minimize the backtracking in Mega Man X so that you’re only revisiting one or two stages. My friend and I did a head-to-head race of the game once, and I mapped out the route ahead of time; I think Chill Penguin and Boomer Kuwanger were the only ones I went back to, and even Boomer Kuwanger can be cleaned out in one go if you’re really good with the ice sled.

Porcupine meatballs were a staple in my home growing up! Simple and tasty.
