Crystalis, the oft-celebrated NES cult classic. Dungeons & Dragons, the oft-misunderstood tabletop role-playing game. The GameCola Podcast, the…kind of self-explanatory podcast. Together, these ingredients were baked into an epic cake of adventure known as the Crystalis D&Dcast, and it’s finally available in its entirety on YouTube! Actually, it’s been there for months, but I’m slow when it comes to these things.
Listen in amused horror as model citizens Alex “Zebu” Jedraszczak, Christian “Tornel” Porter, Vangie “Asina” Ridgaway, and Mike “Kensu” Ridgaway bravely rampage their way through a Dungeons & Dragons quest set in the unsuspecting world of Crystalis, written and half-improvised by Nathaniel “The Dungeon Master” Hoover. From the obligatory tavern to the incongruously sophisticated floating tower; from the disastrous zombie ambush in the city to the disastrous dolphin-mounted showdown in the sea; from decimating a whole ecosystem to sending a mind-controlled guard au naturel down an icy mountain slope, the Crystalis D&Dcast has everything you’d ever want from an adventure where only one or two of the heroes are actually trying to save the world.
We’ve got a whole playlist on YouTube devoted to all our RPG podcasts, but you can listen to all ten parts of the Crystalis D&Dcast right here! Because nobody minds ten consecutive embedded videos.
